The Antill Physiotherapy Team
Our reception staff are Karen Dunkerley, Ranee Oxley, and Jill Klye.
Karen, Ranee and Jill have a broad understanding of the range of services that we provide at Antill Physiotherapy which include individual appointments, hydrotherapy sessions, and our small group Pilates exercises classes, and are able to answer any general questions you may have regarding these services. They are knowledgeable of each of our physiotherapists’s particular areas of expertise and special interest, and will recommend the physiotherapists most suited to help you overcome your particular problem. They manage the physiotherapy appointments , and will work with you to arrange a convenient appointment for you, and will explain the parking options for your visit to us.
Please speak with Karen, Ranee or Jill with enquiries regarding our physiotherapy services, or to make an appointment to see one of our physiotherapists.
Our physiotherapists are:
Kate Thomas
Kate is our practice principal, and has 25 years clinical experience. For the past 15 years she has been working predominantly with clients with spinal pain. She is passionately committed to working with clients to give them a sound understanding of the nature of their spinal problem , so that they are fully involved in the treatment program that will help them return to their optimal level of function. She has a strongly hands-on, educative, and exercise based approach, with particular attention to retraining core stability.
More recently Kate has been involved in the area of vestibular physiotherapy, and works with clients to help them overcome movement and balance problems associated with a disturbance of vestibular function.
Away from work, Kate and her family, including 2 school-aged daughters, are keen bush walkers, and love water sports including surfing, paddle boarding and kayaking. Kate is a keen rower and trains year round, competing in local, national and international masters competitions.
Paula Munden
Paula has 30 years physiotherapy experience which includes working in both the public and private sectors, including acute hospital inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. Paula is interested in all areas of physiotherapy, including sports injuries, and has been particularly involved with hockey herself over many years. She is also particularly interested in working with the elderly to help them maintain an active lifestyle, combined with freedom and quality of movement, and good all-round muscle strength and conditioning. Paula firmly believes in the importance of working with clients to help them become self-managing of their own physical problems.
Paula and her family, including 3 children from high school to university age, are all physically active, particularly in the fields of hockey, athletics, and rowing.
Broadening the services that we provide, Paula carries out home visits for the elderly who, in the short term, are unable to attend the rooms for treatment.
Heather Rae
Heather brings 22 years clinical experience to the practice. For the past 15 years, she has been working in private practice in Hobart, developing her particular interest in the sacrum and pelvis, and their involvement in low back pain.
Heather particularly enjoys working with women with pelvic and low back pain issues both during pregnancy and after delivery of their baby. Core stability work is an integral part of her treatment programs.
Heather has a hands-on manual therapy approach, often focussing on dispelling muscle imbalances, incorporating some osteopathic-style techniques and muscle trigger point release. She works with clients to develop a unique self management program to further aid recovery and prevent recurrence of the same problem.
Away from work, Heather has 3 children ranging in age from early primary school to high school age, and they are involved in many physical activities including swimming, dance, ballet, and tennis. As a family they enjoy outdoor activities including bush walking, kayaking, and general beach activities.
SarahJane Benson
SarahJane has over 18 years of clinical experience and worked in England, New Zealand, and for a short period in South Arica, before coming to Australia. She has gained a wide range of physiotherapy skills in various clinical settings including hospital, community, defence force, and private practice.
SarahJane is interested in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, as well as pre and post natal care. She is particularly interested in the spine, pelvis and hips, and her work with clients with problems in these areas always includes attention to retraining effective core stability.
She has a hands-on approach, coupled with education and exercise prescription to promote recovery, on-going self management, and prevention of re-injury.
SarahJane and her family, including a baby son, participate in many outdoor activities, ranging from the beachside to mountain peaks and the snowfields.
Sally Ely
Sally graduated from the University of South Australia 4 years ago. She has worked principally in private practice, and is particularly interested in musculoskeletal, sports, and post-operative physiotherapy.
From early in her career, Sally has been involved in instructing pilates-based exercise classes, focussing on the correct activation of deep stabilising and global muscles. She incorporates various cues, imagery and other techniques to help clients improve body awareness and quality of movement. Since her initial introduction to pilates, Sally has undertaken further studies and is due to complete her Certificate 4 in Pilates Instruction this year.
Sally is passionate about helping clients to move beyond pain and limitation towards full function, using various manual therapy techniques, education and exercise therapy. Believing strongly in empowering clients through greater understanding, Sally encourages learning and active management in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
In her free time, Sally is a keen traveller, rock-climber, and more recently, is busy renovating her new home.
